AI clerks that run your AP,
inside Blackbaud.
Clerked's AI clerks work inside Blackbaud Financial Edge. They find invoices in your inbox, code every line to the right fund, account and project, catch billing errors before you pay them, and draft replies to vendors. Financial Edge stays the system of record.
Every line on the right fund
Each invoice line is coded to its fund, account, project and transaction codes, learned from your own Financial Edge invoice history, and the AP credit goes to the same fund as the expense.
Approved by email, posted by you
Department approvers get each invoice by email and approve it with one click, from their desk or their phone, with no login. Approved invoices arrive in Financial Edge not yet posted, with the invoice attached, for your team to post.
Under 2 weeks to go live
On Blackbaud, our average customer goes live in under 2 weeks. We helped the Toledo Museum of Art swap printed invoices walked to mailboxes for one-click email approvals across the museum.
How it works
We make Financial Edge better at AP, and nothing about it is replaced. Even on Financial Edge, AP is usually still tracking down invoices sent to departments, splitting lines between the general fund and a grant, and chasing approvers by hand. The clerks take on that work.
Fund accounting has its own exceptions, and the clerks hold them for a person instead of guessing. A line that would need an interfund entry, an inactive account, a project your account restrictions don't allow, or distributions that don't add up to the invoice total is held with the reason.
Invoices go into Blackbaud as AP invoices, coded by line. Nothing posts until it's approved, whether approvals happen in Clerked from email or in Blackbaud itself. Blackbaud stays the system of record, so nothing is migrated or replaced.

Security and control
- Nothing is written to Financial Edge until the invoice has passed every approval your rules call for.
- Approvals start with a person, and approvers can answer from email with no login.
- Each invoice is checked again just before it's written to Financial Edge, and one that wouldn't post cleanly is held for your team.
- Approved invoices go to whatever pays them today.
